Founded in the 1910s and decommissioned in 2017, the shipyard carries a century of docks, cranes and slipways. The design reads this industrial heritage as the raw material for a new public realm built on the ideas of "echo the history" and "return to nature."
Four layers of three-dimensional movement structure the plan — a shoreline slow lane, an air cycling lane, a ground bus lane and an underground rail — stitching the isolated 94-hectare peninsula back into the city.
